Paris Masters: Djokovic the Imperious defends his Crown

HydrangeasNovak Djokovic crowned his first tournament since becoming a father for the first time , with victory in the Paris Masters Final. The Serbian cruised past Masters Series final debutant, Milos Raonic, in straight sets. The win sees him become the first ever player to successfully defend the Paris Masters and crucially stretches his lead over Roger Federer to 1310 points, in the battle for the year-end No.1 ranking.

Djokovic bt Raonic: 6–2, 6–3

With Roger Federer breathing down his neck all week, leading up to the World Tour Finals, Novak Djokovic did the best thing possible, which is: WIN.

At the start of the Paris Masters Djokovic was just 570 points ahead of Federer, in the year-end No.1 ranking. But his opponent in the Paris final Milos Raonic took care of that, by stunning the Swiss in straight sets in the QFs.

Djokovic then knew his No.1 ranking was safe until London, so he could add to his tally and be assured of finishing the year on top.

First time MS finalist Raonic however, was no match for the Serbian Ironman.

Novak was determined to go into the WTF on a high, with the winning feeling in the air.

Djokovic was lightning right from the start, jumping to an early 3-0 lead. The nerves were getting to the Milos, who luckily saved 3 more BP in the 6th game to hang on.

The Canadian had 3 chances to break Novak in the next game, but was unable to convert.

Djokovic then punished Raonic for missing out on those bp’s, easily winning the first set by 6-2.

Things quickly started to go even more downhill in the 2nd, when a double fault sent him down 2-0.

It was all smooth sailing from there on, as Novak cantered to his 3rd Paris title by 6-3. It was Novak’s 6th title of the year, and 4th Masters Series Crown after wins in Indian Wells, Miami and Rome.

Most importantly he goes into the Tour Finals on the 9th, (where he’s the 2-time defending champion) 1310 points clear of Federer. So basically he only needs to win 1 RR match and he’s secured the top spot for 2014.
